Q3 2023 - Community Lab 2.0 & Cohere Residency @ MOOS
TLDR
A summer of community hopping across the UK, Germany, and Switzerland, including the Enchanted Gathering, a Cohere residency at MOOS Berlin, and key organizational milestones for Regen Tribe.
Dear Tribe,
Q3 has been a whirlwind chapter filled with magic and innovation. We've been to 5 different countries and visited 5 different community spaces, and we're here to tell you about all of the growth we've had as an organization over the summer. Pull up a chair.
**July**
We finished Community Lab Tulum and reunited our team in the UK for the Enchanted Gathering at Selgars. The space is a renovated-paper-mill-turned-regenerative-village owned by one of the founders of re:build, Anton Chernikov. Since the beginning of the year, we helped co-organize the event, and the entire core team of Regen Tribe showed up to co.create the magic. It was a spacious and creative gathering that explored regenerative village building and themes of intentional living. We shared our Community Culture Canvas and Mycelium Networking there. We were incredibly honored when Anton suggested that re:build and Regen Tribe perform a bit of a merger (more on that later).
Then our crew did a lil' skydiving trip in Switzerland, because nothing says teamwork like free-falling from 10,000 feet together. We believe in taking 'team bonding' to new heights ;)
Then we joined the Cohere Network for 10 weeks in Berlin at the urban regenerative coliving hub, MOOS. There we were privileged to meet an array of luminaries in the fields of regeneration, village building, web3, crypto, DeFi, DeSci, indigenous partnership, and coliving projects.
**August**
Regen Tribe was invited to Cohere's conscious coliving residency to collaborate deeply with the Cohere team. Together we explored polyorganizational techniques and radical collaboration between our teams to set up projects we can work on together.
At the same time, Julia was hosting a monthlong colive called Illuminae in Ibiza with Gaianet's Alexander Keehnen.
The Cohere residency was full of incredible people – a couple turning a castle in Poland into a community, developers building frameworks for network states/coordi-nations, and members of a DAO working on biotech longevity projects, to name a few.
While we were at MOOS they launched “Halle für Alle”, a series of free community dinners that they had funded via a government grant that fed as many as 200 people at a time. We came in full support with hosting, coordinating logistics, and amassing a team of volunteers to leave at MOOS.
Regen Tribe is focused on building regenerative neighborhoods. We've hosted a colorful range of community settings – from jungle ecovillages to urban incubator houses – and we appreciate the inspired connections and convenience of urban coliving. Our ambitions are to build as many sustainable and intentional community land projects as possible, so we nomad to communities to observe them and capture best practices while we build a global network.
At MOOS, one of our goals was to study their inner workings. We had several meetings with Jacob Huhn, the community manager, and Charlie Fisher from Dark Matter Labs and Traditional Dream Factory, who is a steward of the space and is currently launching the Free House Project there.
We mapped our experiences and observations of the community during our stay in this mind map.
To close the residency, we designed an escape room immersive experience set in a solar punk future called Solarium, which we plan to host again during Regen Week 2024.
**September**
Then we stayed an extra month at MOOS for Regens Unite, to help support and co-facilitate a wholesome event for building bridges between different fields of regeneration. During that time we met some awesome people from Funding the Commons, Moneyless Society, and Conscious Coliving.
When September was over, we packed our bags and headed off to Istanbul to buy enough time outside the Schengen area to be able to participate in the Free Cities conference in Prague.
And just as a teaser for Q4, the Free Cities conference was a smashing success, so read about it in our Q4 newsletter ;)
PS
We are strongly calling in a co-founder role with experience in platform development, websites, and all things tech. If you want to be involved at a deep level at our early stage startup, check out our Notion and join the blob.
Hugs,
The Regen Tribe Collective 🌿✨
